Honoring and remembering...

"I have never been able to think of the day as one of mourning;
I have never quite been able to feel that half-masted flags were appropriate
on Decoration Day.
I have rather felt that the flag should be at the peak,
because those whose dying we commemorate
rejoiced in seeing it where their valor had placed it.
We honor them in a joyous, thankful, triumphant, commemoration
of what they did."

Happy Refrain...

...It's been a very busy month around here.
A certain someone happily danced in her second recital.
(Not sure if she was more excited about the dance,
or getting to spend some treasured time with visiting family.)
With the school year winding down for one (and done for another),
we look forward to slowing down a bit
and soaking up the summertime fun.

Have a beautiful week!

May day...

"When April steps aside for May,
Like diamonds all the rain-drops glisten;
Fresh violets open every day:
To some new bird each hour we listen."
~Lucy Larcom~
